Training Log: 11.11 – 11.17

by Sara on November 19, 2013

Not much of a “training log” as much as a recovery log but I did manage to run a lot more miles that I had originally planned.  Mostly because I was feeling fine and itching to run again.  Not addicted though, I could quit anytime I want.

Long run recovery. Because I bet you've never seen legs in running shoes before

Long run recovery. Because I bet you’ve never seen legs in running shoes before

Monday & Tuesday – Complete rest days.  I credit a lot of my success this training cycle to the amount of off time I gave myself before and after every race.  Even if it doesn’t feel like I need some off days, I know they can’t really hurt.

Wednesday – 5 miles easy on the treadmill.  Nothing special.

Thursday 3 miles – FINALLY got to run with the running club again after an almost month long hiatus brought on by work.  The last time I was able to make it to a group run it was still light out when we started.  I was really impressed with the turnout, and it was seriously entertaining seeing how much glow in the dark, reflective, light up etc. gear everyone had on.  No watch because I left it in Ralph’s car after the race on Sunday and kept forgetting to get it out.  I think it worked out for the best though, first of all it was too dark to be able to see it (and my light seems to have stopped working) and second it was really nice to not focus on anything but enjoying the run.

Saturday – 10(ish) miles – I’ve done a lot of shorter runs with out my watch but this was the first really long run I have done with out my Garmin probably since the day I got it.  Again it was nice not to be constantly focused on my pace, but the end was kind of weird as there was no definitive stopping point.  I knew we had run “about” 10 miles, maybe a little bit more, but maybe I had messed up planning the route and it was a little less? Ugh how do I know if it was exact without my watch.  In the end it doesn’t really matter if I ran 9.5 miles or 10.5 miles.  It felt great to be getting out for a longer run though, my legs have been feeling really strong lately.

17 miles total, not a bad recovery week.
