Training Log: 10.13.14 – 10.19.14

There was a part of me that was so amped up from watching Hannah run the B.A.A half last Sunday that I actually thought it would be possible to go for a long run of my own once I got back to my parents.  {I decided to drive back to my parents house from Boston and spend Sunday night with them since I had Monday off from work}  The minute I got to my parents I realized how tired I was and all I wanted was to curl up on the couch with a big glass of wine and watch terrible Hallmark channel movies with my mom.

After weeks where it felt like everything was against me I just wanted a week where everything went right.  I finally had that week.  I also bought myself a little early birthday present – a new Garmin 220 since my 405 has been giving me a lot of trouble lately.  All I have to say is I love it so far.

Monday | 8 miles
Long run with my momma around my hometown.  It was pretty overcast and chilly but still I really treasure the runs I get to go on with my mom more than anything.  I know that sounds cheesey, it is, but I feel like I have a lot of making up to do for all the times she wanted me to run with her as a kid and I never did.

Thursday | 3 miles
Easy pace, nice post work run followed by some abs and random gym things.  I couldn’t be any happier to finally be back to running again.

Friday | 2 miles
Thursday wasn’t enough to quench my thirst for the feeling of running – 2 more easy miles at lunch on Friday was

Sunday | 10 miles
My first double digit long run in way too long.  I picked a wicked hilly route because I am a glutton for punishment, because hills make you stronger, and because I wanted a change of pace from all our usual long run routes.  Everything felt good, except for my asthma which has been acting up since I got sick last week.  Hopefully some serious time with the nebulizer will have that fixed in a few days.

Weekly Total = 23

Back.  In.  Business.

It feels SO good to be back and running again I can’t even put it into words.  As hard as it was to take a few weeks off, the way things have been going the past week make everything worth it.  I’m trying hard to continue to make all the right decisions, I’ve been back to running solely in my asics GT-2000’s and taking extra time off if I feel any kind of lingering tightness.  The only thing left on my calendar for the year is the Run the Bridge 10k coming up in two weeks and although I had pretty ambitious goals for it back in the summer when we signed up I’m thinking I’ll just take it easy.  Crossing my fingers things continue to keep looking up!
