Foodie Photo Friday

by Sara on June 22, 2012

Alternate post title spelling – Phoodie Photo Phriday.  I thought people might get a little confused.  Oh well.

A few weeks ago Ralph and I had a big discussion about cameras.  How does this relate to running? Well we talked about it on a run doesn’t that count for something?  And also it pertained to the blog.  I have always liked taking pictures, and took a few black and white film photography classes in college which I loved, and that’s pretty much where my photography expertise ends.  I have always just used my little cannon point-and-shoot, however it’s been around awhile and it’s seen better days.

The sad state that is my camera right now. All that beautiful scotch tape is not just for looks – it’s pretty much holding the whole thing together..

I told Ralph I would rather not get a new one (it actually works really well despite its pathetic exterior experience) but instead make a transition to SLR.  Pretty much I have to stop making excuses (wow that seems to be a constant theme in life right now…) and learn how to use Ralph’s digital SLR so that I can get good enough to justify us upgrading to a better body and getting some sweet new lenses in a year or two.    This means I have been taking pictures of every meal we cook, because it’s the only interesting thing going on in our apartment this week.  Something tells me a post full of photos of boxes and mess wouldn’t really fit in here.

Sweet potato medallions sprinkled with cinnamon and ready for baking.

Chicken breasts drizzled with olive oil, sprinkled with garlic poweder/salt/pepper and lightly tossed in bread crumbs. And half of them covered in cheese. The world is a better place when things are covered in cheese.

The whole dinner plate. This is the only white plate we currently own, specially purcahes for taking pretty pictures of meals on. Actually that’s a lie, my mom bought it for the wedding something-or-other.

Taco salad buffet/bar. Heaven on earth pretty much.

I will appologize for the fact that all these photos are somewhat dark.  I know natural light yeilds the best photos, however we have a severe lack of natual light in our apartment at 9pm when we are eating dinner.  Weird.  I promise I will get better at this one day.

xx Sara
